Do I need to care for hair extensions?
Yes, absolutely! Just like your own hair, hair extensions need care to stay beautiful, shiny, and healthy.
Because extensions are no longer nourished through the root, they dry out faster and are more prone to tangling and breaking.
With the right care:
- Your extensions stay softer and shinier
- They last much longer
- They blend more beautifully with your own hair
With good care, you can often double the lifespan of your extensions. So it’s not only beautiful but also wise for your wallet.
Read below to learn how you can keep your hair extensions in top condition.
Which products are essential to keep your hair additions healthy?
Which products are essential to keep your extensions healthy?
- sulfate-free shampoo
- Conditioner
- Hair mask
- Heat protector
- Argan oil or olive oil (preferably in spray form)
- Preferably a Tangle Teezer to prevent hair breakage, or a brush
- Satin or silk pillowcase or cap/bonnet.
- Microfiber towel/microfiber hair towel
Therefore, purchase the right products!
Do you want the perfect product to care for your hair extensions? Our advice is Olaplex! Olaplex is available from a professional near you (salon) or online.
How to use Olaplex for your hair extensions:
The products we recommend for the hair extensions are Olaplex no. 3 - 4 – 5 – 6 – 7.
If you purchase Olaplex, we recommend the following:
Step 1. First use Olaplex no. 3, leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse it out with no. 4, the shampoo.
Step 2. Then use conditioner no. 5, leave it on for 3 minutes and rinse out.
Step 3. Pat the hair about 40% dry with a towel. Lay the hair on a towel and gently pat dry with the other side of the towel. Then apply Olaplex no. 6 to the hair; a wonderfully scented and nourishing cream. Use an amount the size of a die. Let the hair dry naturally. Preferably leave it lying on a towel. If you have permanent extensions, we recommend letting them dry naturally. Always avoid the hairdryer, as this makes the hair very dry due to the heat.
Step 4. When the hair is dry, use no. 7. No. 7 is a very fine, nourishing and protective oil that gives the hair a beautiful, healthy finish to the routine. This is absolutely indispensable! It is also a protector against the use of a straightener.
Step 5. Then style the hair well with a straightener to close the hair cuticles. You can also use a curling iron if you want curls.
And you are good to go!
How do I comb or brush my hair extensions?
How do I comb or brush my hair extensions?
We advise combing or brushing the hair extensions several times a day.
It is wise to hold the hair at the roots with one hand and only comb or brush when the hair is dry. The best is to comb the extensions with a wide-toothed comb or brush. Do you have curly extensions? Then it is important to comb the extensions while damp with a wide-toothed comb to prevent frizz and tangles. Absolutely do not brush!
When brushing or combing, it is very important to comb/brush the entire hair from the roots to the ends thoroughly. If you do not do this, the hair will tangle and over time will no longer be easy to comb. Therefore, take good care of them.
If you do not wear extensions, it is important to comb your own hair well from your scalp. Do you have tangles? Then you comb them out, right? With hair extensions, it is the same.
When the hair is wet, it is important to comb/brush gently from the ends and gradually work your way up with the comb/brush. This prevents hair breakage. Therefore, never apply too much force when combing or brushing.
How do I wash my hair extensions?
How do I wash my hair extensions?
It is important to thoroughly comb or brush our hair extensions before washing. We recommend washing and caring for permanent hair extensions 1-2 times per week with conditioner and a nourishing mask if you wear the extensions permanently.
Using a good pH-neutral shampoo, conditioner, and a nourishing hair mask will extend the lifespan of your hair extensions.
We advise washing our hair extensions from top to bottom. Washing them upside down causes the hair to tangle. Also, do not scrub or be rough with the hair during washing, as this also causes tangles. By washing from top to bottom, the hair will not tangle and you can enjoy your hair extensions longer.
It is very important to apply the mask both to the ends and throughout the entire length of the hair. Be careful when applying near the bonding or edge, for example with a weave, to prevent loosening.
Why use a pH-neutral shampoo and a nourishing hair mask or hair cream?
Hair extensions no longer receive natural nourishment from the hair root. Therefore, it is important to help the extensions with good care. The hair remains soft and manageable. Olive oil products are a good choice to keep the hair healthy. Moreover, the hair loves Moroccan Argan oil, so choose what suits you. We have found that Argan oil works best.
Make sure that the products do not contain parabens, silicones, or alcohol. We strongly recommend using Moroccan Argan/essential oil every day so the hair does not dry out. Do not use too much, otherwise the hair becomes too greasy.
Clip-in/Wire/Halo/U-Part Extensions:
- With daily use: If you wear clip-in/Wire/Halo/U-Part extensions daily, it is advisable to wash them approximately every 15 to 20 days of wear. However, this can vary depending on how many styling products you use and how much dirt and oil they collect.
- With less frequent use: If you wear them less often, for example on special occasions, you can wash them when you think they need it. If they still look good and smell fresh, you do not necessarily have to wash them.
Ponytail Extensions:
- With daily use: If you wear the ponytail extensions daily, you might consider washing them every 10 to 14 days. This can of course vary depending on how quickly they get dirty and how many styling products you use.
- With less frequent use: If you wear them less often, for example only on special occasions, you can wash them when you think it is necessary.
It is important to note that washing too frequently can contribute to wear of the extensions. Make sure to handle them gently during washing and let them dry well before using them again.
Keep in mind that these guidelines are general and individual circumstances may vary.
How do I dry my hair extensions?
How do I dry my hair extensions?
We advise to dry the hair gently with a microfiber towel.
Make sure to do this from top to bottom to prevent tangles. Do not squeeze the hair upwards, but always from top to bottom. Alternatively, use a microfiber towel in wrap form. Let the hair air dry further to keep the hair extensions healthy.
It is also possible to dry the hair extensions with a hairdryer on the low or medium setting. However, we advise, just like with your own hair, to use a heat-protective spray or serum for protection against heat and drying out.
Can I style or curl my hair extensions?
Can I style or curl my hair extensions?
Yes, it is absolutely possible to use a straightening iron or curling iron on our hair extensions. However, we advise, just like with your own hair, not to do this too often, as it can lead to drier hair or more tangles than usual.
Note: do not set the straightener higher than 180-200 degrees! Always use a heat-protective spray or serum against the heat.
Keep in mind that using a curling iron can affect the quality of the hair. Make sure the heat of the curling iron is not too high and always use a heat-protective spray or serum against the heat.
With frequent use of styling tools (if a curling or straightening iron is used too often, especially without a heat-protective serum), the quality of the hair will deteriorate because the hair no longer receives nourishment from the roots. The hair cannot recover optimally and will break over time.
If you notice the hair becoming drier, it is time to take action. Care for the hair as soon as possible to prevent further damage.
Some important tips:
- Use a temperature of the straightener or curling iron of maximum 180-200 degrees!
- Never leave the straightener or curling iron in one spot for too long to prevent burning the hair.
- Make sure the hair is completely dry before styling. Wet hair is most vulnerable and can be damaged.
- Do you use hairspray for hold? Always apply it after curling and not before or during curling to prevent burning the hair.
- ALWAYS use a heat protector (if you don’t, the quality will decline faster!).
- After curling, always wash the hair well with a conditioner and a nourishing hair mask to feed the hair. Always let it air dry, do not use a hairdryer.
If the straightener is set too hot (for example above 180–200°C), your hair extensions – even those made of 100% human remy hair – can be damaged.
Here is exactly what happens:
What happens with too much heat?
- Drying out of the hair
The moisture in the hair evaporates, making it stiff, dull and brittle. Extensions dry out faster than your own hair because they no longer receive natural oil production (sebum). - Burning of the hair fibers
At too high temperatures, the hair cuticles can break open or even scorch. This results in split ends, frizz and loss of softness. - Loss of texture
Does your hair have a body wave? Heat above the safe limit can permanently deform or destroy that texture. - Faster tangling & breakage
The damaged structure leads to more friction and thus faster splitting, tangling, breaking and loss of wear time.
✅ What is safe then?
- Use a straightener or curling iron between 160–180°C
- Always use a heat-protective product
- Work in small sections and do not hold the iron too long in one place
- Let the extensions dry well before using heat
💡 Even remy human hair is sensitive to too much heat — treat it as carefully as your own hair, or even more carefully.
Can I swim with my hair extensions?
Can I swim with my hair extensions?
It is possible to swim with the hair extensions. We advise you to wash the hair immediately after swimming with a good pH-neutral shampoo, a good conditioner, and a hair mask. Finish with Argan oil or olive oil.
Be careful, if you are going to swim in saltwater! Saltwater draws moisture from the hair, just like with your own hair, which can cause the hair to become dry and tangle. Preferably wear the hair up.
Make sure you do not braid the hair when swimming in saltwater. It is wiser to wear the hair up or in a ponytail.
Can I exercise with my hair extensions?
I enjoy exercising, can I exercise with my hair extensions?
It is absolutely possible to exercise with hair extensions.
It is wise to wash the extensions after exercising, as exercise causes dirt through perspiration.
Here too, we recommend doing this with a good shampoo and conditioner.
If you exercise a lot, it is wise to ensure that no dirt accumulates at the roots.
How do I wear my extensions while sleeping?
How do I wear my extensions while sleeping?
- Always comb or brush the extensions thoroughly before sleeping or storing them.
- Always start from the roots and work downwards; this prevents tangles.
- Tangles form quickly if you do not brush properly and only get worse.
- Hold the roots of the hair with one hand and brush gently with the other hand.
- Brush or comb only when the hair is completely dry.
- Braid your hair after brushing, especially before sleeping.
- Never sleep with wet or damp hair, as this increases the chance of severe tangles.
- Get a satin or silk pillowcase or cap/bonnet.
What does a silk or satin pillowcase or cap do for your hair?
- Prevents friction with your pillow (cotton = rough, draws moisture from your hair = breakage & frizz)
- Keeps your hair hydrated (hair oil and moisture stay better)
- Keeps your hairstyle & extensions looking good longer (no tangles or flat spots)
- Fewer split ends & hair breakage
For extensions, it is especially valuable because:
It prevents the attachments from rubbing & coming loose during the night.
How long can I use my hair extensions?
How long can I use my hair extensions?
Our extensions last a long time, up to 2 years (depending on the type of extension)!
However, it is very important how you care for the hair extensions. If you treat your hair extensions like your own hair and take good care of them, you will enjoy them for longer. We only offer the highest quality premium 100% human virgin and remy hair, because this gives the most natural look.
Because it is not treated with chemicals, you can also enjoy the hair extensions for longer.

Care makes the difference!
For every type: the better you care for them, the longer you will enjoy them. Always use sulfate-free products, brush carefully, and style with protection.
Dyeing Capilli hair extensions
Yes, our hair extensions can be dyed in some cases. However, there are some important considerations you need to keep in mind.
Read our following tips and advice carefully.
We strongly recommend having the dyeing done by a certified professional. This reduces the chance of unwanted results and ensures that the right professional products are used.
Note: because extensions have already undergone a treatment, the absorption of colour can vary and the final result is not always predictable, even with professional colouring.
Do not use henna or dye from drugstore packets. Always choose the right professional products, applied by a qualified stylist or colour specialist in the field of hair extensions, who knows what they are doing.
Furthermore, we advise to dye only from light to dark. We strongly discourage dyeing from dark to light. The hair may then not reach the desired colour, become damaged, or break. It would be a shame if you can no longer use the extensions as you intended.
If you have a specific colour in mind, please contact us to discuss the possibilities. We can provide custom work for all your wishes.
Dyeing and lightening extensions
Our extensions are made from 100% human hair and can be dyed in some cases. However, because the extensions have already undergone a treatment, the absorption of colour may differ.
- We do not offer any guarantee or support for dyeing or lightening extensions. This is done entirely at your own risk.
- Lightening is strongly discouraged, as this can damage the hair and reduce its quality. The guarantee becomes void with lightening.
- The final colour may vary due to factors such as the hair dye used, processing time, and previous treatments of the hair.
- Always use mild, ammonia-free hair dye and first test on a small strand of hair to see how it reacts.
- Dyeing can affect the quality, softness, and lifespan of the extensions. Therefore, extra care with moisturizing masks and oils is essential.
We deliver our extensions as ordered and cannot provide any guarantee on hair dyeing. Changes to the extensions, such as dyeing or styling, are at your own responsibility.

I have chosen single drawn or double drawn, what should I pay attention to?
Single drawn: This variant has thinner ends and contains shorter hairs at the tips. If you have chosen single drawn, know that the ends are somewhat more delicate and require extra care. Make sure to follow your hair routine without damaging the ends.
Double drawn: In the double drawn variant, the hairs are full and thick all the way to the ends. It is important to follow your hair routine as described above.
My hair extensions are very dry, what can I do?
If the hair is dry, you can do the following:
- Wash the hair with conditioner, avoid shampoo as this can dry out the hair even more. Leave the conditioner in for 3 minutes and rinse the hair out.
- Then use a good hair mask to nourish the hair. Distribute it evenly. Let the mask soak in well for 15 minutes and then rinse it out.
- Gently pat the hair dry with a microfiber towel, but do not make it too dry.
- Spray or apply Argan oil or olive oil and comb or brush the hair thoroughly. Make sure to remove all tangles properly.
- Let the hair dry naturally. Do not use a hairdryer.
- Style as desired. For straight hair, it is recommended to treat the hair once with a straightening iron to close the hair cuticles for a good result. Use a heat protector to shield the hair from the heat.
- It is also good to periodically do a deep conditioning treatment to nourish the hair extra. This can be done, for example, with an oil treatment that you leave on overnight and rinse out in the morning. Always pay attention to using products suitable for hair extensions, avoid products with alcohol or harsh chemicals, as these can damage and dry out the hair.
It is recommended not to use heat products or devices for the coming week and to continue caring for and nourishing the hair well to allow it to recover optimally.
When should I reposition my hair extensions?
It is very important to know that not every extension can be worn for a long time. We want to show you when and why it is important to reposition your extension on time.
- All types of Weave extensions we offer:
With a Weave extension, it is important not to leave the weave in for too long, as your hair can be damaged by matting. If you leave a Weave in too long, new hair from your own scalp will tangle with the extensions. This can lead to damage to your own hair or even breakage.
We recommend caring for the hair every 6-8 weeks by combing and repositioning it. The exact time for repositioning may vary per person. So consult your stylist in time.
- Handwoven weave:
- Do not use shampoo with disinfectants, as this can damage the glue.
- Do not wash the hair with extremely hot water and do not take it into the sauna, as this can damage the glue.
- When washing the hair, do not rub too hard over the weave, since it is a handwoven product and the edge may come loose.
Treat it well and you will enjoy it for a long time! We recommend caring for the hair every 6-8 weeks by combing and repositioning it. The exact time for repositioning may vary per person. So consult your stylist in time.
- All types of Bonding extensions we offer:
With an extension using bonding extensions, it is possible to wear the system for 4 - 6 months. We recommend not wearing them longer to prevent hair breakage. Consult your stylist in time.
- All types of Tape extensions we offer:
It is possible to reuse Tape hair extensions with new adhesive strips. We advise doing this every 4 - 6 weeks to avoid damaging your own hair and to prevent tangles from the roots. The exact time for repositioning may vary per person. So consult your stylist in time.
- Nanoring extensions:
We advise you to have nanoring extensions repositioned every 8 - 10 weeks to prevent damage to your own hair. Because of tangles, it would be a shame to ruin or break your hair. The exact time for repositioning may vary per person. So consult your stylist in time!
- Clip-in Extensions:
Placement: Clip-in extensions can be placed when you want to add extra length or volume to your hair, for example for special occasions or daily use.
Removal: It is recommended to remove clip-in extensions daily before going to sleep. This helps prevent matting and tension on your own hair.
- Wire/Halo Extensions:
Placement: Wire or Halo extensions can be placed when you want to quickly and easily add extra length and volume to your hair. They are suitable for daily use.
Removal: Remove the wire before going to sleep. This ensures that no unnecessary tension is placed on your own hair.
- U-Part Extensions:
Placement: U-Part extensions can be placed when you want to create a natural look with the possibility to show your own hair. They are suitable for daily use.
Removal: Remove the U-Part wig before going to sleep to prevent unnecessary tension on your own hair.
- Ponytail Extensions:
Placement: Ponytail extensions can be placed when you want to create a full ponytail. They are suitable for special occasions or daily use.
Removal: Remove the ponytail before going to sleep to prevent pulling on your own hair.
I am experiencing hair loss from my wax extensions, how can this happen?
This can have several reasons. It may happen because the bonding was not pressed firmly enough when applying. It can also occur if too high a temperature was used when applying with the heat tongs.
Keep in mind that there will always be an average hair loss of about 10%.
